The japanese myth is that after folding 1000 cranes, you can make a wish, and it would come true.
We started this project based off the tragic, yet inspiring story of a young girl named Sadako Sasaki, who died of leukemia ten years after an atomic bombing.
Sadako was two years old when she was exposed to the A-bomb. She had no apparent injuries and grew into a strong and healthy girl. However, nine years later in the fall when she was in the sixth grade of elementary school (1954), she suddenly developed signs of an illness. In February the following year she was diagnosed with leukemia and was admitted to the Hiroshima Red Cross Hospital. Believing that folding paper cranes would help her recover, she kept folding them to the end, but on October 25, 1955, after an eight-month struggle with the disease, she passed away.
Other than that major project, I am also working on several other projects.
I am working on a small linoleum print. I almost done with carving it out, doesn't help that I get the highlights and shadows mixed up a bit.. hehe. I should be done over this current Christmas break with the carving, and with luck when I get back to school, I and get to do my prints.
Also, I am working on another self portrait cus my teacher loves to torture me.. This one is in charcoal. Fun.
I'm working on a still life on shapes, and it can't be anymore dreaded by my soul, I hate still lives.
Soon I will be working on a self portrait with myself in an environment and blah blah blah, hopefully I can get that for the vacation cus I need to work on something for these twelve days. This self potrait will become the base of an even bigger linoleum print... Great.
It doesn't helt that I busted up my right hand and that I keep forcing it to do things it prolly shouldn't be. I can't be on the linoleum for too long or it begins to hurt..
Oh well.
Hopefully soon I will get my traditional art up again, but this scanner ain't working and I don't like taking picures of my art.
